Bill Smilser delivered an exciting talk on intelligent street lighting and the ROAM system on Wednesday, March 28th, 2007.

Subject:  Intelligent Street Lighting

"Street lighting maintenance has just been make easier and more reliable.  A new wireless monitoring and reporting system has been developed that will help you effectively reduce maintenance costs while providing reliable and timely reporting of luminaire outages to a central service location.  A simple component plug-in retrofit device converts any street lighting luminaire to an intelligent communications node.  When equipped with the node, the luminaire will not only tell you that it is inoperative, but also when and why."

Speaker:  William A. (Bill) Smelser, IESNA, LC

Throughout Bill's career, he has filled positions in manufacturing, engineering, sales and marketing with various streetlighting manufacturers.  He is presently Director of Infrastructure Sales for the Solutions Group Canada.  This group includes teh American Electric Lighting, DTL, Sitelink and ROAM brands.  He has his office in Rockwood, Ontario.
